Blkmarket Music is one of those labels that as much as it is renowned and delivers constant high-quality, it's impossible to put into boxes. Not too long ago, we talked about their tenth release with the Toronto crew Payphone, which interestingly hit some hardware-produced unexplored areas between house and techno. Now, for its eleventh release, the Blkmarket Music ship heads over to electro with four original tracks by the Russian producer JLM Werx.

No frills - this release straight up sounds like a Detroit In Effect record that got produced in outer space. Starting from the cosmic A1 ‘Heartbeat MC’ (which we are proud to exclusively premiere in full here), the pace is fast, keeping it over 140 bpms throughout the whole EP. The synth lines are beautifully mixed together with a strong rhythmic ride leaving you breathless - but perhaps the bass is the best element on this one, hitting hard and at the same time sounding rounded with a borderline acid touch. And the whole EP keeps up with the energy, leaving no time to take a breath. From the unusual structure and dreamy scaled arpeggios of ‘Telephone Line’, to the heavy, modulated bassline of ‘Total Zero’ and the reverbed stabs tunnel of ‘Just A Mirage’ closing the release on the B2. Overall a fine, high-quality release that will not fail to appeal to any electro lover.

Kirill Junolainen (aka JLM Werx) is based between Turku (Finland) and Saint Petersburg (Russia). Through time he released under a vast number of aliases, starting the project JLM Werx as a live act in 2017. Almost all of his music is produced on a Roland MC-505 and it’s heavily inspired by 80s electro music and the associated cultural features - starting from Kraftwerk and robotic aesthetics to influences from the more hip-hop side of electro, such as breakdance and graffiti.
