Discover The Intergalactic Scenarios of Oden & Fatzo’s ‘Toboggan’ EP
The French ensemble release yet another incredible release on their imprint Sake Records
On today’s dancefloor music advice from Guerrilla Bizarre, we wish to bring to your attention the latest release by Oden & Fatzo. The French microhouse masters deliver a 5 tracks EP on their own imprint Sake Records, which they run together with Matthéous.
Presented as an “intergalactic journey with no return”, the duo Oden and Liam Fattori (the man behind Fatzo) crash on a planet of unknown technology in another galaxy. Welcomed by space guards, they have no choice but to rob them with their synthesizers. The premise is very fitting of the work; the release is fun and playfully narrative while at the same time very spacey and futuristic.
The EP opens with an intro of a female vocal describing the situation our musicians got themselves in, thrown into a wormhole in the depths of the solar system. After the one-minute introduction, it goes on to the title-track ‘Toboggan’, an outstanding breakbeat piece adding layers of melody and harmony into a complex bassline and a moving amen break sample.

‘Retro Drive’ brings us back to something we are more adjusted to hearing from Oden & Fatzo, a great and lively micro-house groove. ‘Blue Sun Hours’ (maybe our favourite track on the EP) goes even deeper with its smooth pads on an evolving structure of steady 4/4 rhythm and a variety of processed samples. The release is closed off by ‘Sad Donkey’, bringing back the sonority of the second track of the EP with a breakbeat rhythm on which the groove is created by a fast intermitting bass-work.
With its sound lingering between modern micro-house and complex synth layering, this is another superior work by Oden & Fatzo. It is a pleasure to see these artists grow with every release and stay at the top of their game - we hope their intergalactic journey goes on years to come. Make sure to follow Sake Records and Oden & Fatzo to stay up to date with all their work.
