Arcenciel has been releasing music for about 5 years now, featuring current minimal house affirmed artists and talents such as Yaroslav Lenzyak, Nima Gorji, Locïc and Sandro Kuhne. Their next release, out this 28th of May, is from a new face within the label’s catalogue, Ruven Medici, delivering four original tracks combined with a remix by Matpri.

The Dopewagon EP lies somewhere between house and modern garage. The production style is parched and fresh, and the composition essential and effective with the tracks building up on captivating grooves that just work. ‘Everyday is Friday’ (which you can listen to in full in our premiere) gets the ball rolling with an immaculate garage rhythm and bass combined with a playful keyboard melody. The in-and-out rap vocal together with the rolling snares in the breaks make this track simply rip-roaring.

80s Swing’ follows, perhaps our favourite from the release together with ‘Everyday is Friday’. This track is also bass-driven with some heavy garage influences. However, it feels more on the house side compared to the first track as it progresses, invigorating the groove with a driving kick-hats-claps work and spacey synths and chopped vocal bits.

Both ‘Aero’ and its remix by the experienced producer Matpri feel more on the deeper side of sounds. The synths playing more with delays and reverbs compared to the tracks before, and while it follows a similar production style it feels more progressive, climaxing in a breakdown where most sounds are removed just to kick back in at the 5-minutes mark. Matpri’s remix is also one of the most enjoyable tracks on this EP, with a production sound that feels more grounded compared to the one of Ruven. A different kind of groove and definitely an enjoyable one.

The frisky ‘Cancle It’ draws the finish line on the release in style, with its uplifting and hypnotic groove and blissful synth work. This release already got early support from the likes of Arapu and we’re sure it will get some plays in sets around the world. The brightness of ‘Dopewagon’feels very much in line with the Spring to Summer transition, pumping up the hopes of finding ourselves in some kind of dancefloor very soon.
