tresydos’s Soundwave Hits Again With A New Digital VA
dive into the release With our exclusive premiere of ‘Transmute’ by Arnic
Tresydos is a label that simply delivers everything we are looking for in an underground imprint right now. Recently, the Madrid label run by Mari.te has caught more and more attention - if you’re into underground records you might have stumbled upon the funky heaviness of Ed Hodge’s ‘The Gateway EP’ earlier this year (of which we premiered the hard-hitting ‘Xenyx’).
This next VA comes as a perfect example of what we mean with our opening line - although the variety is striking, the sound of tresydos comes across as a more and more unique craft of high paced house freshness, progressive aesthetics and melodically-composed groovy basslines - this time fully delivered by a whole lot of new faces for the imprint.
London-based Frenchman Dandeloo opens up the dances with the deep and fancifully nocturnal mood of ‘Jony Holiday’ - here an on-point simplicity drives the main bass and rhythm loop, as reverbed, quasi-8-bit synth leads and pads provide the deepness to the track’s progression. One for the afters. ‘Trasmute’ by Arnic follows - we are very happy to premiere this track in full through our channels as we feel it’s really something special. In pure tresydos style, the piece combines an enthralling bass melody with minimalistic and sharp rhythmic features, evolving into a climax progression with smart composition and a combination of well-placed synths.
Next up is ‘Heads Up’, probably our other favourite on the VA (hard to pick one here), this is a collaboration between American producer Sweater and Leandro Conti. Everything is well delivered here, from the funky bassline to the amazing percussion work which will instantly make you feel transported to early 2000s Ibiza, as well as the overall progression of the piece. The fourth track, JUAAN’s ‘Exploushion’, follows a similar style but feels a bit darker compared to the rest of the VA, which serve as a good moment in the compilation to avoid repetition and check out a different take on this type of sound. ‘Joy Boy’ by Vafa wraps things up the VA featuring an interesting mix of quirky basslines and a steady rhythm / pure amen break contrast.
Overall the level is high and there are some true gems in this VA - especially for DJs this is a much recommended purchase as this kind of sound is capable of marvelous effects on dancefloors. If you heard a tresydos track played on a good soundsystem, you know what we are talking about!
