Balkan Vinyl Releases Luke Vibert/Posthuman Split EP, And It’s A Rave-Designed Bomb
‘Unitary Covert Sonic Procedures II’ Contains Four Mutable Rave Productions From The Acid Veterans
This week Balkan Vinyl released the split EP ‘Unitary Covert Sonic Procedures II’, featuring two tracks from the duo Posthuman and two tracks from the wonky beats master Luke Vibert. Each track on the release follows a different vibe on the leitmotiv of specifically rave-destined genres. Balkan Vinyl label bosses Posthuman deliver two very distinctive tracks on the EP; while ‘2 Jack 4 U’ is a steady house groove, ‘Hidden Blade’ explores faster tempos with a deep and experimental production featuring fast hi-hats and lysergic synths. The duo show their experience in navigating different genres while delivering a consistently interesting approach.
And Luke Vibert is one of those artists who turn every he touches into gold. In this EP he delivers a majestic work with two breakbeat, Detroit-electro inspired tracks; you can hear his next level stylistic choices in the ride between straddling drums and neat rave stabs of the opening track ‘Batter Bits’, and even more in the final track of the EP ‘Trouble’, where we hear a mix of fast proceeding knotty harmonies in his signature style intermitted with a dominant bass and a variety of lively, well-placed samples where even the ‘silly’ alarm sounds are on point.
