Pluie/noir Is Back With A Mesmerising Release By Pressure Point
dive deep into “Ghost On Tape”’s beautifully crafted atmospheric scenarios
Pressure Point is one of those producers who always strikes us in everything he touches - from the 90s infused house grooves of his house moniker D:fferent Place to the modern, spaced out minimal atmospheres of Pressure Point (you should check out his latest collaboration with Christopher Ledger on Meander if you heaven’t), there’s a certain attention to details that’s peculiar to the production approach of everything he released.
His debut on Pluie/Noir is no different —the four tracks feel like intimate yet flawless experimentation; as much as this EP is dancefloor oriented, it moves far beyond this sole purpose with a final output that makes it a pleasure for home listening also.
The four compositions play on melodic patterns and deeply spacial rhythms for a combination of mesmerising, suspended beats. You will hear this the mysterious bells and and ‘soft punchiness’ of the A2 ‘Marionette’, or also the psychedelic, bleepy arpeggios of 'the B1 ‘Just Left Home’, which contrasted with its deeply atmospheric pads craft a wonderful alien feeling. And the closing track ‘High Pass’ feels like a nice extra to this EP, reminiscing the minimal origins of Pluie/Noir with a rhythmic, essentially groovy ride.
In this high-quality batch, our favourite has to be the A1, the title-track ‘Ghost On Tape’ - in our opinion both the most explicative of the style of this EP and at the same time a striking track on its own. The synth combination here is just on another level, shaping an outside-of-this-world mellow and dreamy climax. A timeless piece which we are proud to premiere in full on our channels:
With this EP and a soon to be release D:fferent Place record other than more exciting projects, 2022 is looking like an amazing year for Pressure Point - keep an eye on his next works and endeavours.
